This page explains what we collect when you use parkerhomesteadchimney.com or ask us out to your chimney, what we do with it, and who else ends up seeing it. We have tried to describe what actually happens rather than cover every possibility in the broadest words available.
The short version: we collect what we need in order to answer you and do the work, we do not sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.
Who is responsible for your information
Parker Homestead Chimney, 9235 Crown Crest Blvd, Ste 120, Parker, CO 80138. Call (720) 222-4772 with any question about this policy or about your own information.
What you hand us directly
When you fill in the quote form, apply for work with us, or talk to us through the chat window, you choose what to tell us. Depending on the form, that can include:
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- The address, town and ZIP of the property, and whether it is a home, a rental or a business.
- What the chimney or fireplace has been doing, which service you think you need, and how soon.
- The day and time window that suits you, and whether you would rather we call, text or email.
- Anything else you type into a message box, including gate codes or notes about dogs, which we use only to turn up prepared.
- For job applications, whatever experience you choose to describe.
Please do not send payment card numbers, Social Security numbers or anything similar through a web form or the chat window. We never need them there.
What gets collected automatically
- Server logs. Our web server records ordinary request information such as the IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser and operating system reported. That is how the site is kept running and secure.
- Cookies and local storage. Small files the site keeps in your browser. The list is below.
- Analytics, only if you allow it. If you accept analytics on the cookie bar, Google Analytics collects usage information such as which pages were visited and roughly what part of the world the visit came from.
The cookies this site uses
- acs_consent remembers which choice you made on the cookie bar. It lasts a week, after which we ask again.
- A chat identifier kept in your browser local storage so a conversation in the chat window stays yours and survives a page reload.
- Small preference cookies that remember things like a greeting you have already seen or a notice you dismissed, so the site stops repeating itself.
- A sign in cookie, only if you hold a login for the account area.
- Google Analytics cookies, set only after you accept analytics.
Until you accept, analytics and advertising storage are switched off rather than merely unused. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings whenever you like. The site works without them, apart from the parts that have to remember who you are.
What we do with it
- Answer your question, prepare a quote, and schedule and carry out the work.
- Reach you about a booking, by phone call, text message or email, using whichever method you asked for.
- Keep records of jobs, quotes and invoices, which is ordinary bookkeeping.
- Keep the site running, spot abuse, and stop automated spam reaching the inbox.
- Understand which pages are useful, if you have allowed analytics.
We do not sell your information. We do not hand it to anybody for their own marketing.
About calls and text messages
If you give us a phone number and ask us to call or text, we use it for your request and your appointment. Message and data rates may apply on your end. Reply STOP to any text and we will stop texting that number.
Who else handles it
We use a short list of outside services to run the business. Each sees only what it needs to do its part.
- Our web host. The site and its records sit on a server we rent.
- Telegram. When a request comes in, an alert carrying the details of that request lands in a private chat so the crew sees it quickly.
- Google. reCAPTCHA checks that a form submission came from a person rather than a robot, which means your IP address and interaction signals go to Google. Google Analytics, if you accepted analytics. An embedded Google map on the contact page. What Google does with that is governed by their own privacy policy.
- YouTube. Video thumbnails on this site are plain images, and nothing loads from YouTube until you click play. Once you do, YouTube receives the request exactly as it would on their own site.
- Anyone we are legally obliged to tell, such as in response to a lawful request, or where it is needed to protect somebody's safety or our own legal interests.
How long we keep it
Quote requests and job records are kept while you are a customer, and afterward for as long as we need them for warranty questions, bookkeeping and the periods the law requires. Chat conversations and job applications are kept while they are useful and then cleared. Server logs turn over on a short cycle. If you ask us to delete something and we are not required to keep it, we will.
Your choices, and your rights in Colorado
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it, where we are not required to keep it.
- Send you a copy of what you gave us.
- Stop contacting you, or stop counting you in analytics.
Colorado residents hold rights of this kind under the Colorado Privacy Act, including a right to appeal when a business refuses a request. A company our size may sit below the thresholds where that law applies, and we would rather not hide behind that, so we will honour these requests from any neighbor who asks, whether or not the statute obliges us to.
Call (720) 222-4772 or write to the address above. We may need to confirm who you are before we act, which is protection for you rather than an obstacle. If we ever turn a request down, we will say why and tell you how to appeal it to us.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers send these signals in different ways and there is no settled standard for answering them. Our position is simple: analytics stay off until you accept them on the cookie bar, so a browser that never accepts is never measured.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, call us and we will remove it.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to records is held to the people who need it, and we keep the number of places your information lives as small as we practically can. No system is perfect and we will not pretend otherwise, but we treat what you tell us as something we were trusted with.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, this page changes with them and the date at the top moves. If a change is significant we will make it obvious rather than quietly swap the text.
